Gut Feeling or Logic? Words of Wisdom About Intuition

Your intuition doesn't shout. It whispers. You just have to get quiet enough to hear it.

Words of Wisdom

Experts say that if you want to use your intuition to make better decisions, you need to spend time in nature. Modern life and all the time we spend on our devices can make it harder to hear that inner voice.

So I guess there's no better background for words of wisdom about intuition than beautiful landscapes.

Can You Hear Your Intuition?

I get the impression that constant dopamine hits from social media are making it harder for us to listen mindfully. We struggle to focus for any length of time and simply listen to others, or even to ourselves.

Trust Your Gut (If It's Healthy)

I've been wondering for a while if there is any connection between gut health and intuition.

On The 1% Podcast neuroscientist Lisa Feldman Barrett said:

Intuition is just your brain making a guess based on your past experience. So if your past experience is well calibrated to the situation you're in, your intuition is going to do well for you. If your past experience is not well calibrated to the current situation, you're going to make a big mistake.

Gut health has a huge impact on the brain, so if intuition is just a guess your brain makes, you want both your gut and your brain to be healthy to make the right call.

Gut Feeling and Logic

This is a powerful statement because sometimes you have a long list of valid reasons to do something, yet something deep inside you, something you can't quite name or explain, pulls you in the opposite direction.

By Intuition

I've noticed that the spiritual movement has taken a troubling turn lately, leaving people more miserable and delusional than before. Often, I think it's because they stop trusting their own intuition and turn to gurus as if they had access to some deeper wisdom that ordinary people don't.

In Silence

Silence can feel uncomfortable, but sometimes it's exactly what you need. After talking to others, even experts or people you love and trust, take a moment to sit quietly and listen to yourself. Give yourself space to work out whether their advice aligns with what you truly want.
